The Healthy Gringa: Thieves Popcorn Recipe

Popcorn is a requisite for movie night in our house. With Carnaval beginning here in Ecuador in full force tonight (think blaring music, throngs of people in the streets, and being doused with water or foam from a can), a movie was definitely in order.

Our favorite popcorn recipe is Thieves Popcorn. It is a delicious, cinnamon and caramel-like concoction. And with the addition of Thieves essential oil, eating popcorn gives you and your family an extra boost of immune function support. So, hey, what’s not to like?

Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup popcorn kernels

3 Tbsp oil (I usually use sunflower)

2 Tbsp coconut oil (heat briefly over the stovetop if not in liquid form)

2 Tbsp butter melted (optional)

1/8 cup honey

3 drops of Thieves essential oil

salt to taste

cinnamon to taste

Directions:

In a large pot with lid, heat the vegetable oil. Add the kernels and cover with a lid.

While your popcorn is popping, mix together the coconut oil, butter (if using), honey, salt, and Thieves essential oil.

Pour over the popcorn and mix well. Sprinkle with cinnamon to taste.
