I know I just blogged about using lemon essential oil as an easy option for cleaning your fruits and veggies but…I just used lemon in a different way for the first time and honestly am floored by the results.
So, my 2-year old shimmied under our truck to retrieve his soccer ball. And when he emerged? The whole backside of his cornsilk-like hair was spooged (hmm…is that really a word?) with a thick, gooey layer of black grease! And his white shirt, though not hit nearly as badly as his hair, also had enough grease that I thought, oh well, and envisioned bidding it farewell.
I’ve used lemon oil on many occasions for removing sticky price tags, etc. (it works as well as the commercial product, Goo-Gone) so while I was pondering how to degrease Aiden’s head, it occurred to me to try out lemon oil.
I put a little shampoo in the palm of my hand and added 2 drops of lemon oil [I get my oils HERE], scrubbed for about a minute while he sat playing in the tub, and WOW–when I rinsed there was no grease or even any blackish residue left whatsoever!
This positive outcome then gave me hope for salvaging his shirt. I added about 4 drops of lemon oil, rubbed it in and washed by hand. It actually came out clean! Here’s the proof.
I only wish I had a “before” picture of my son’s hair to really make my point but I was in repair mode at the time and didn’t think to snap a photo. In any event, here’s his after picture.
